Patient HG

Male

Age: 19 years

History: HG was diagnosed with RE Pellucid marginal Degeneration and LE keratoconus 5 years ago. He wore RGP lenses but found them very uncomfortable with around 8 hours wearing time. Spectacles were not an option as he got no useful vision from them. This curtailed his life, particularly when trying to study.

The left eye had been moulded by RGP wear and a month later, was refitted with:
L 8.20/14.50/-4.00/-7.00 x 130

On rechecking a month after this, the final lens was ordered:
L  8.20/14.0/-2.50/-8.00 x 130

Wearing time: HG was able to wear the lenses for all waking hours which has made a tremendous difference to his lifestyle and enabled him to study much more effectively and improved his grades.

The left cornea in particular benefitted from wearing the KeraSoft®3 lens as it returned to its normal shape after discontinuing RGP wear.
